In Other Philly Sports News…

Quick reminder, folks: there are other teams in Philadelphia besides the Phillies. We’re going to cover them quickly and then forget about them until November.
The Eagles take on the Redskins this Monday night in probably the least anticipated Eagle game since Bobby Hoying was passing the ball to Jeff Graham. And while one would think that things couldn’t get worse on a week in which you lost to the Raiders, they just did. Omar Gaither is out for the season.
The Sixers start their regular season next Wednesday, and I predict that at least 8-10 people in Philadelphia watch that instead of Game 1 of the World Series. Sports Illustrated picked the Sixers to finish 10th in the East, a modest downgrade from being bumped in the first round of the playoffs each and every year.
The FLyers have started the season 3-2-1, and are back in action tonight against Boston. People in Philly with iron livers and insomnia might be getting “Flyered Up” for this game, but the rest of us need to get some sleep and lay off the juice for a few days until the World Series starts.
Villanova football is having a heck of a year, enjoying a 6-1 record, and they’re having their homecoming this weekend.
And despite their loss to Nova, Temple football is looking up.
Finally, here’s a fun Penn football fact: they will play their 1,299th game this Saturday, more games than any school in America.
