Eagles Play Redskins in a Battle to Determine Most Pathetic Team In NFC East

eaglesredskinsTonight’s Eagles-Redskins matchup has all of America checking their TV Guides to see what else is on television. We figure we’ll keep an eye on it, but we’d be lying if we said we were all excited about it. Though the Eagles have made a habit of starting slowly and then making a furious late season surge, this is not a team with Super Bowl aspirations. Sorry, but there is no way in hell a team that loses to the Raiders could possibly knock off the Saints, Colts, Patriots, or Steelers. But the good news is that the NFC looks remarkably weak, with the Giants looking awful last night in a loss to the Cardinals. The Cowboys won, but the day we believe in Tony Romo will be the day we believe that George Bush organized and carried out the 9/11 attacks. And so, with a win tonight, the Eagles would pull into a three way tie for first in the NFC East. With a loss tonight to an abysmal Redskins team, and we’ll be spending the rest of our Sunday afternoons this fall drinking Bloody Marys and hiking in Pennypack Park.

Igglesbog doesn’t have much confidence in the Eagles tonight.

Unfortunately, we all know that the Eagles are fond of showcasing the Platonic Ideal of Bad Andy Reid Losses a few times a year, and this seems to line up as the sort of opponent that brings out the worst in them.

Bleeding Green Nation somehow puts a positive spin on last week’s loss, something about the Patriots losing to the 2-11 Dolphins in 2004 and still winning the Super Bowl.

The Eagles are favored by 8 tonight, due in large part to the fact that the Redskins are going to be running plays based on fan suggestions. Or something close to that. Our prediction? Eagles rebound with a close win. 20-13 Eagles.
