One Rubber Tree Plant Down, Two to Go

high-hopespsd-copyChase Utley continues his record-breaking post season, and the Phils refuse to die. An 8-6 victory over the Yanks in a way-too-close-for-comfort Game 5 sets the stage rather nicely for the Phils in Game 6. The Phillies had the best road record in the majors this year, so closing out on the road doesn’t really bother me at all. They also have a fully rested Pedro Martinez, and there is no-one besides Cliff Lee I’d like to have on the hill in New York. Pedro has looked awesome in the postseason. Chase Utley is locked in, and I really feel like Ryan Howard is going to turn this thing around. They are up against Andy Pettitte, pitching on 3 days rest. It is the first time Pettitte has pitched on short rest since 2006, and he is 4-6 with a 4.15 when he pitches under these conditions. Thus far, neither Yankee pitcher on short rest has been all that impressive. And I’ll be perfectly honest, I am licking my chops at the prospect of this Phillies lineup facing the same pitcher for the 3rd time in ten days if this goes to Game 7. Rest those livers and voices tonight, folks. You got a lot more drinkin’ and screamin’ to do. This thing is far from over.
